Florida Senator Mel Martinez Excuses Terrorism

Florida Senator Mel Martinez excuses the 1976 bombing of a Cubana airlines plane by Luis Posada Carriles, saying “without condoning any specific act of violence, there was a hostile state of affairs at the time.” He also says that “Cuba began the practice of hijacking airliners…” as if no one will read the New Yorker article in which the quote appears and realize that it’s a complete fabrication.

The folks of Florida have many reasons to be proud, but their election of the dumb ass Martinez has to rank amongst their proudest.
